Special Education Teacher in West Hartford, CT

This is a full-time, contract opportunity for the 2026-2027 academic year—running from August 2026 through June 2027. You’ll work closely with a dedicated team, facilitating growth and development for first and second-grade students in a supportive classroom environment.

What We’re Looking For:

• Valid Special Education Teacher certification (Connecticut licensure preferred)
• Experience working with elementary-age children, especially in grades 1 and 2
• Solid understanding of IEPs, accommodations, and differentiation
• Collaborative attitude and excellent communication skills
• Strong problem-solving, organizational, and classroom management capabilities
• Passion for fostering an inclusive and positive learning experience

Your Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver individualized and small group instruction tailored to each student’s unique learning needs
• Develop and implement IEPs in partnership with multidisciplinary teams, families, and administrators
• Monitor progress, track student data, and adjust instructional strategies as needed
• Support students in building social-emotional and academic skills
• Maintain regular communication with families and staff to ensure student success
• Participate in professional development and staff meetings as required

Work Details and Schedule:

• Contract spans the 2026-27 school year (August–June)
• Full-time schedule, Monday through Friday
• 32.5–37.5 hours per week
