This contract position, beginning immediately through December, offers the chance to make a direct impact in a close-knit educational setting near West Hartford, CT. You will work with a small group of five students, grades 4-6, providing personalized instruction and fostering a nurturing learning environment.
Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification
- Experience working with elementary or intermediate grade students, preferably in a self-contained setting
- Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Commitment to cultivating an inclusive and supportive space for diverse learners
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instruction to meet students’ academic, social, and behavioral needs
- Differentiate lesson plans according to IEP goals and student readiness
- Provide consistent support and supervision of all students throughout the school day
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and families to maximize each student’s success
- Maintain detailed records and participate in IEP meetings as needed
- Actively contribute to a positive, collaborative classroom culture
Position Details:
- Full-time, contract role from immediate start through December
- Schedule: Approximately 7 hours per day (roughly 8:25 am – 3:25 pm)
- Manage a self-contained classroom of five students in grades 4-6
