Special Education Teacher - West Hartford, CT

Step into a rewarding full-time contract opportunity supporting K-12 students in specialized and inclusive educational programs. Beginning as soon as possible, this role extends through June 11, 2027, offering stability and meaningful work in a vibrant school community. With 35 hours per week and several openings available, you'll be collaborating with dedicated professionals in Pathways (serving students with multiple disabilities), KEY (focused on autism), and general inclusion classrooms.

Candidates should bring strong school-based experience and a commitment to fostering growth for every learner. Your background in special education will help empower students and contribute to collaborative, student-centered environments.

Qualifications:

• Active Special Education (SPED) licensure and certification valid in Connecticut
• Demonstrated and recent experience in a school-based special education setting
• Ability to provide professional references upon request
• Comfortable working with a broad range of disabilities and in both specialized and inclusive classroom settings
• Willing to work with students from Kindergarten through 12th grade
• Prepared for Zoom-based interviews

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Adapt curriculum and instructional approaches for Pathways, KEY, and inclusion programs
• Collaborate with general education staff, therapists, and families
• Collect progress data, maintain comprehensive documentation, and participate in team meetings
• Foster a supportive classroom environment to promote independence and skills development
