Bring your expertise in special education to a fulfilling contract position for the 2026-2027 school year. This opportunity offers the chance to make a real difference for students in a supportive educational environment. The role includes teaching 3rd grade or 8th grade—final assignment will be determined closer to the school year start. You’ll deliver instruction in math, reading, science, and social studies using both self-contained and push-in/pull-out models, working closely with students who may have behavior disorders.

Work a stable Monday through Friday schedule from 7:40 am to 3:20 pm, with a paid lunch break and a full hour built in for planning and preparation each day. This engaging contract position runs from August 12, 2026, through May 21, 2027.

Qualifications for Success:

  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 endorsement (PK-22)
  • Confidence and experience in effective behavior management, especially for students with behavior disorders
  • Demonstrated proficiency in independently drafting and completing IEPs, including setting and tracking personalized goals
  • Willingness and flexibility to work with either 3rd or 8th grade students as determined by the district
  • Previous experience in special education classroom settings strongly preferred

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored instruction for diverse learners in both inclusive and self-contained settings
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Adapt curriculum to meet individual student needs across core academic subjects
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to foster student success

Compensation for this position is between $37 and $55 per hour, with potential eligibility for travel stipends—discuss details with your recruiter during the screening call.
