Special Education Teacher - Westland, Michigan

This full-time position, located near Westland, MI, begins in August 2026 and runs through early June 2027. You’ll play a crucial role in shaping and supporting the educational experiences of students in both elementary ASD/CI classrooms and a resource room.

Key Qualifications:

• Must hold an active Michigan Special Education teaching license with CI (Cognitive Impairment) or ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) endorsement
• Previous experience teaching in a self-contained ASD or CI classroom or resource room preferred
• Strong knowledge of IEP implementation, progress monitoring, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Ability to build positive, supportive relationships with students, families, and colleagues

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction and support tailored to individual student needs in ASD and CI elementary rooms as well as a resource setting
• Develop, modify, and implement IEPs in close collaboration with team members and families
• Utilize data-driven strategies to assess student progress and adjust instructional approaches as needed
• Foster an inclusive, safe, and engaging classroom environment that emphasizes growth and success for all learners
• Communicate regularly with parents, guardians, and other educational professionals to share progress and maintain student-centered plans
