Special Education Teacher in Westland, MI

Empower middle school students as a Special Education Teacher in a dynamic contract role for the full school year. Based in a supportive environment, you’ll work within a Resource Program and join a collaborative team dedicated to making an impact for exceptional learners. With three openings available, you’ll help shape the educational experience for a diverse caseload of students.

Your expertise in special education will help nurture each child’s unique abilities while providing guidance, structure, and encouragement. As a critical member of the team, your commitment will foster success both in and out of the classroom.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Valid Special Education Teacher certification or eligibility to obtain
• Experience working with middle school students is highly valued
• Solid grounding in individualized education program (IEP) development and implementation
• Familiarity with a variety of resource room instructional methods
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively with families, staff, and administration

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver engaging, individualized instruction to middle school students within a resource setting
• Develop, modify, and implement IEPs to address students’ academic, emotional, and behavioral needs
• Assess student progress and adjust instructional strategies as necessary
• Partner with general education teachers and support personnel to ensure student inclusion and success
• Maintain accurate records and documentation
• Foster an inclusive environment that celebrates diversity
