Step into a vital educational role supporting middle school learners as a Special Education Teacher. Located in the vibrant Stamford, CT area, this contract assignment focuses on serving students in either self-contained classes (approximately 8 students) or resource/co-teaching classrooms (around 20-25 students). Emphasis is placed on English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics—helping students progress academically and achieve IEP-specific goals.

As a key member of the academic team, you will take a central role in writing individualized education plans (IEPs), presenting and participating in IEP meetings, assessing student growth, and tracking academic goals. While case management support is provided by district office administration, your expertise ensures each child’s individual needs are met in the classroom, promoting confidence and success.

Required Qualifications:

  • Valid Connecticut Special Education Endorsement
  • At least two years of recent teaching experience, preferably with middle school students
  • Strong background in IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring
  • Experience teaching in ELA and/or Mathematics content areas
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver instruction in ELA and Math in a self-contained or co-teaching setting
  • Design and implement effective strategies tailored to students’ individual needs
  • Write comprehensive IEPs aligned to district and state guidelines
  • Attend and present at IEP meetings with professionalism and advocacy
  • Evaluate, test, and monitor students’ academic growth
  • Maintain accurate records and goal tracking
