Special Education Teacher - Westport, Connecticut

This contract position allows you to focus on a range of core subjects, including English Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, and Mathematics, ensuring students thrive both academically and personally.

Your day-to-day will involve maintaining a positive, inclusive learning environment for 8 students in a self-contained class or up to 25 in a co-teaching/resource setting. You’ll write Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), participate actively in IEP meetings, assess student progress, and closely monitor goal tracking. Administrative duties like case management are supported by the district’s administrative office, giving you more time to focus on instruction and student engagement.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Valid Connecticut Special Education Endorsement required
• Demonstrated skill in crafting and executing effective IEPs
• At least 2 years of recent classroom experience in special education settings

Responsibilities:

• Deliver engaging instruction in ELA, Science, Social Studies, and Mathematics
• Develop, implement, and review IEPs for assigned students
• Collaborate with general education teachers and related service providers
• Actively participate in student evaluations, progress monitoring, and parent communication
