Special Education Teacher - White River Junction, VT

Qualifications and Experience:

• Valid Special Education Teaching certification
• Experience with life skills programs and individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Ability to create adaptive lesson plans tailored to varying abilities
• Compassion, patience, and strong communication skills
• Previous work in a school setting preferred
• Understanding of positive behavior support and differentiated instruction

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction in a life skills classroom to a group of five students
• Develop, modify, and implement lesson plans aligned with each student’s IEP
• Foster a nurturing, inclusive classroom environment that promotes growth and independence
• Collaborate with paraprofessionals, therapists, and other educators to maximize student support
• Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor student progress and adapt teaching strategies
• Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student achievements and needs
• Maintain accurate documentation consistent with school and district guidelines
