Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Special Education Teaching certification
- Experience with life skills programs and individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Ability to create adaptive lesson plans tailored to varying abilities
- Compassion, patience, and strong communication skills
- Previous work in a school setting preferred
- Understanding of positive behavior support and differentiated instruction
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction in a life skills classroom to a group of five students
- Develop, modify, and implement lesson plans aligned with each student’s IEP
- Foster a nurturing, inclusive classroom environment that promotes growth and independence
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals, therapists, and other educators to maximize student support
- Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor student progress and adapt teaching strategies
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student achievements and needs
- Maintain accurate documentation consistent with school and district guidelines
