Special Education Teacher - Whitehall, Pennsylvania

Make a difference as a Special Education Teacher, supporting diverse student needs across various specialized programs in Lehigh and Carbon County for the 2026–2027 school year. In this itinerant substitute role, you'll have the opportunity to impact multiple classrooms and learning environments, covering vacancies, leaves, and longer-term assignments. Flexibility, adaptability, and a passion for student growth are key for this rewarding contract role.

This position follows the school calendar, with a 35-hour workweek and assignments that may vary depending on district needs. Candidates must reside within a 35-minute commute of assigned sites to ensure reliable coverage and continuity of care for students.

Desired Qualifications & Experience:

• Pennsylvania Special Education certification (required/preferred based on assignment)
• Experience teaching in special education classrooms
• Proven expertise implementing IEP goals and delivering tailored instruction
• Strong classroom management skills and behavioral interventions
• Ability to collaborate with staff, service providers, and families
• Willingness to move between programs and adapt to K–12 environments as needed

Preferred Background:

• Autism programming, ABA-informed strategies, and behavioral intervention plans (BIPs)
• Emotional support and behavioral health
• Experience with adapted curriculum, functional/life skills instruction, and significant disabilities
• Background in IU or specialized school settings

Responsibilities:

• Deliver specialized instruction and support to students with a range of learning and behavioral needs
• Contribute to a team approach by partnering with paraprofessionals and related service staff
• Support classroom transitions smoothly as assignments change
• Maintain accurate records and uphold IEP requirements
