Key Qualifications:

  • Active special education teaching license for the state of North Carolina (required)
  • Strong background in working with early elementary students (K-3)
  • Experience supporting students with autism and implementing effective behavior management strategies preferred
  • Comfortable providing personal care, including toileting and diapering, as needed
  • Proven commitment to fostering a nurturing and structured environment

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead a self-contained classroom with an evolving roster, currently 4-5 students, growing to 7-8 as enrollment increases
  • Design and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s strengths and needs
  • Use evidence-based instructional strategies to support academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development
  • Employ proactive classroom management to facilitate positive behaviors and maximize learning time
  • Collaborate with classroom support staff, therapists, and families to ensure consistency and ongoing communication
  • Maintain thorough documentation, progress monitoring, and compliance with all state and district requirements
  • Provide a safe, accommodating environment for students with diverse needs, including assistance with personal care as necessary

Details & Schedule:

  • Full-time contract, Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–3:00 PM (35 hours per week)
  • Self-contained K-3 classroom at the elementary level
