Special Education Teacher in Williamsburg, VA

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Valid teaching certification in Special Education (or eligibility for state certification)
• Experience working with K-2 students, preferably in a resource or self-contained setting
• Deep understanding of IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring
• Knowledge of differentiated instruction strategies and behavior management techniques
• Strong communication skills for collaborating with teachers, parents, and support staff
• Adaptability, patience, and an encouraging attitude toward all learners

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and deliver individualized instruction to K-2 students with diverse learning needs
• Write and maintain IEPs in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
• Employ a range of instructional methods and materials tailored to various abilities
• Monitor student progress, assess learning outcomes, and adjust lessons as needed
• Foster a nurturing classroom atmosphere that supports academic, social, and emotional growth
• Communicate regularly with parents and provide updates on student progress
• Participate in professional development and team meetings to enhance teaching practices
