Special Education Teacher | Willimantic, Connecticut

Special Education professionals seeking a rewarding contract opportunity in Mansfield, CT will find this role both meaningful and collaborative. Work alongside an experienced colleague to support middle and high school students in both resource and self-contained classroom settings. Focus areas include English Language Arts and Mathematics for self-contained classes, while managing a caseload of approximately 14-16 students.

Responsibilities include drafting and updating IEPs, participating and presenting at IEP meetings, conducting assessments, and tracking student progress towards established goals. The schedule is Monday through Friday, from 7:30 AM to 2:30 PM, with a daily planning block for preparation and administrative tasks. While participation in the school’s four annual professional development days is encouraged, attendance is voluntary. The contract begins with a four-week probation period (or Fall Semester) with potential for renewal based on performance and collaboration skills.

Qualifications:

• Connecticut Special Education Endorsement (or DSAP will be considered for strong applicants)
• At least two years of recent teaching experience in special education
• Demonstrated ability to write and implement IEPs effectively
• Strong collaboration and communication skills to work with colleagues and families
