Certified Grades K - 5 Special Education Teacher in Willimantic, CT

Embark on a dynamic contract opportunity supporting students in grades K-12 as a certified Special Education Teacher. Positions are available for high school (grades 9-12) and middle school (grades 6-8) in a welcoming academic environment near Willimantic, CT. These roles are ideal for educators passionate about making a difference for learners with diverse abilities.

Immediate Priority Needs:

• High School (Grades 9-12): Inclusion/resource setting, focusing on a mild to moderate student population. Hours are Monday to Friday, 7:15 am – 2:30 pm.
• Middle School (Grades 6-8): Self-contained autism classroom. Hours are Monday to Friday, 7:25 am – 2:05 pm.
• Contracts begin immediately and run through 6/11.

Qualifications:

• Valid special education certification required
• Experience with mild to moderate disabilities in inclusion/resource environments preferred (high school)
• Prior work in self-contained settings, particularly with autism spectrum students, is a plus (middle school)
• Flexibility to support students across assigned grade levels
• Strong classroom management and collaborative skills
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive and positive learning atmosphere

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to student needs
• Collaborate with general education staff, families, and related service providers
• Provide differentiated instruction for small groups or individual students
• Collect and assess student progress data, adjusting strategies as needed
• Maintain records and support compliance with all required documentation
• Contribute to a supportive school community, participating in IEP meetings and staff development
