In this rewarding contract opportunity, you'll serve as a Special Education Teacher specializing in Adapted Curriculum within a self-contained autism classroom at the elementary level. The position focuses on supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and significant cognitive differences, providing a structured and nurturing environment for meaningful growth. You will play a pivotal role in fostering academic progress, independence, and functional skills for students requiring intensive, individualized supports.

Your expertise will be instrumental in delivering high-quality, differentiated instruction based on individual needs, while ensuring a safe, respectful, and engaging classroom atmosphere.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver instruction utilizing adapted curriculum, targeting individualized student goals.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Employ evidence-based practices for effective classroom management and behavioral support.
  • Partner with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and families to promote consistency and student success.
  • Use data-driven strategies to assess progress, adjust interventions, and celebrate achievements.
  • Empower students to improve communication, social, and adaptive skills in daily routines.

Required Qualifications:

  • Valid Georgia Special Education Teacher Certification.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching students with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
  • Strong skills in IEP development and implementation.
  • Proficient in classroom management and behavior intervention.
  • Ability to conduct and utilize student progress data.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background in adapted curriculum instruction or certification.
  • Skilled in teaching students with significant cognitive disabilities.
  • Familiarity with ABA, structured teaching, visual supports, and alternative communication methods.
  • Experience supervising paraprofessionals.
