Step into an important role supporting young learners in a K-1 self-contained classroom designed for students with developmental delays. This contract position offers a chance to guide and empower four kindergarteners and five first graders using both general and adapted curricula. You’ll work side-by-side with two dedicated paraprofessionals, ensuring each child receives specialized attention and guidance tailored to their unique needs.
Desired Qualifications:
- Hold a valid Georgia Special Education Adapted Curriculum Certification
- Certified in all academic content areas: Reading, Math, Science, Language Arts, and Social Studies
- Demonstrated experience with both general and adapted curriculum
- Skilled at writing and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Knowledge of behavior intervention and classroom management strategies
- Ability to foster trust and communicate effectively with families, staff, and related service providers
- Minimum of three completed professional references (including one recent supervisor)
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement clear, measurable IEP goals and accommodations for each student
- Provide consistent behavioral interventions and positive supports in the classroom
- Collaborate with administrators and support staff, building a network of resources around each child
- Track, document, and communicate student progress accurately
- Differentiate instruction across all required academic subjects, adapting materials and methods to fit diverse learning styles
- Establish and maintain a safe, inclusive, and encouraging classroom environment
