Special Education Teacher in Winsted, CT

Step into a meaningful role supporting students with diverse learning needs for the 2026-2027 school year! This contract position offers an exciting opportunity to work as a Special Education Resource Teacher, providing essential support to K-7th grade students. There are three full-time openings: one each for Kindergarten Resource, Grades 1-2 Resource, and a 7th Grade Resource/Case Manager.

You’ll be part of a supportive school environment, where collaboration with educators and families drives each student’s growth. The position is in-person and runs from August 2026 through June 2027, offering a solid, predictable Monday through Friday schedule (35-37.5 hours per week).

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Valid Special Education Teacher certification
• Experience or strong interest in working with K-7th grade students
• Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Solid communication and collaboration skills
• Experience as a resource or case manager in a school setting is a plus
• In-person candidates only

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver targeted instruction to students in resource settings
• Develop, monitor, and update IEPs in partnership with multidisciplinary teams
• Provide differentiated instruction and accommodations based on student needs
• Act as a liaison between students, families, and staff to ensure appropriate supports
• Collect and analyze student data to guide instruction and interventions
• Support inclusive practices within general education classrooms
