Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as a Special Education Teacher, working on-site to support students in an engaging school environment. This full-time position runs from September 8, 2026, to June 17, 2027, with 37.5 hours per week and multiple openings available. You'll play an important role in shaping students’ academic journeys—whether guiding elementary students through behavioral challenges or managing a high-volume Learning Resource Classroom.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid and active Special Education Teacher certification or license in Oregon
- Demonstrated expertise in elementary behavior classrooms, including managing physical aggression and elopement
- Proven experience operating a high-volume Learning Resource Classroom, ideally with an average of 43 students
- Ability to adapt instructional strategies for diverse learner needs
- Strong teamwork, communication, and crisis management abilities
- You must provide contact information for your three most recent supervisors (required for application consideration—no exceptions)
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instruction and support for students with special needs in assigned elementary behavior classrooms or LRC settings
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) that meet legal and ethical standards
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, school staff, and families to advocate for each student
- Foster a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment, maintaining safety protocols with sensitivity
- Track and document student progress, making timely modifications to interventions and supports
- Manage transitions and de-escalate situations with professionalism and care
