This rewarding, contract-based role offers a structured workday from 7:15 AM to 2:30 PM, starting as soon as possible and continuing through June 11. You’ll work closely with students in grades 9–12 with mild to moderate needs, delivering instruction in both inclusion and resource environments. Your expertise and collaboration will help students achieve their IEP goals and thrive in a high school environment.
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid Connecticut Special Education Teacher Certification for grades 9–12 (provisional licenses not accepted)
- Prior experience working with students with mild to moderate learning challenges preferred
- Solid understanding of special education best practices
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with peers, staff, and families
- Ability to maintain clear documentation and adhere to all relevant compliance requirements
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized and group instruction aligned to student IEPs within inclusion and resource classrooms
- Regularly assess student progress and adapt instructional strategies to support student growth
- Collaborate with general education staff to effectively include and support students in mainstream settings
- Maintain accurate records and compliance with state and district special education policies
- Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages participation and achievement
