Key Responsibilities
- Provide individualized special education services in a self-contained classroom setting, focusing on English Language Arts and Mathematics.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to implement co-taught lessons, ensuring all students receive the appropriate accommodations.
- Support instruction in Social Studies and Science as needed.
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals and provide timely documentation of student progress.
- Work closely with families, school staff, and multidisciplinary team members to create inclusive, supportive learning experiences.
- Maintain accurate records and stay organized to track student growth and compliance with education plans.
- Cultivate a positive classroom environment, emphasizing inclusion, respect, and student empowerment.
Desired Qualifications
- Valid Illinois LBS1 (Learning Behavior Specialist I) License.
- Previous experience working with high school students is highly valued.
- Strong background in IEP development and implementation.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with teaching peers and education professionals.
- Excellent communication, organization, and relationship-building skills.
Caseload includes approximately 7–9 students in a self-contained setting and similar numbers in co-taught classes, with robust support from a fellow Special Education Teacher.
