Key Qualifications and Skills:
- Active Rhode Island Special Education Certification for grades K-6
- Previous experience working in elementary special education or resource classroom settings
- Strong understanding of IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring
- Ability to quickly build rapport with students, educators, and families
- Effective communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
- Comfort with pulling small groups (4–5 students at a time) from a broader caseload (14 students total)
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide targeted instruction and support in a resource classroom, using evidence-based practices
- Develop, adapt, and implement IEPs in partnership with the broader education team
- Monitor student progress and adjust interventions as needed
- Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families
- Foster a nurturing, inclusive, and supportive classroom culture
- Manage minimal paperwork and maintain compliance with all state and district regulations
Role Details:
- Immediate start—step in as soon as possible to ensure continuity for students
- Full-time, contract position with 37.5 hours per week (daily schedule: 8:25am–3:10pm, with lunch/prep time included)
- Maternity leave coverage for approximately 6 weeks, potentially extending up to 2 months
