Special Education Teacher in Woonsocket, RI

This position, located near Woonsocket, RI, involves working in a self-contained environment where students benefit from tailored instruction and specialized care. You’ll have the chance to make a lasting impact, collaborating closely with students, families, and interdisciplinary teams from now through June 18, 2027, for 35 hours per week.

Desired qualifications and skills:

• Active Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) Special Education license for the appropriate grade band (Secondary).
• Commitment to compliance with the Right to Read Act, including certification in Structured Literacy proficiency within one year of hire (or current certification).
• Experience supporting students with Emotional Behavioral Disorders (EBD) or severe behavioral needs.
• Familiarity with developing and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
• Ability to foster a structured, positive, and engaging classroom environment.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

Key responsibilities:

• Design and deliver individualized instruction to high school students within a self-contained or sub-separate classroom.
• Implement evidence-based strategies for students with EBD or severe behavioral challenges.
• Regularly assess and document student progress toward IEP goals.
• Develop behavioral intervention plans in partnership with related service providers and families.
• Participate in team meetings, professional development, and school initiatives to support student growth and school community.
