This role is designed for educators who are eager to foster academic and social growth in an inclusive, supportive environment. With a 35-hour workweek, you’ll work primarily with elementary school students, either in a resource/inclusion role assisting those with mild-to-moderate disabilities, or in a self-contained classroom setting.
Key Qualifications:
- Hold an active Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) Special Education license for Early Childhood, Elementary, or Secondary grades
- Compliant with the Right to Read Act: Already certified in, or able to complete, the Rhode Island Structured Literacy proficiency requirement within one year of hire
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach with colleagues, students, and families
- Experience or adaptability in resource/inclusion and self-contained settings highly valued
Role Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s unique needs
- Provide direct instruction, support, and interventions in both inclusive and self-contained environments
- Collaborate frequently with general education teachers, specialists, and support staff to facilitate student success
- Maintain detailed records of student progress, parent communications, and professional development activities
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and positive classroom culture
