Step into a meaningful role providing specialized support for students with diverse needs in an elementary life skills classroom. This contract position offers the opportunity to utilize your expertise as a Special Education Teacher, working in a dedicated Functional Academic and Social Education (FASE) setting. You'll join an onsite team focused on fostering growth and helping students develop essential skills for lifelong success.

Qualifications:

  • Valid and active Special Education certification for Texas
  • Endorsement in Self Contained, Core Subjects, or Generalist (endorsement must align with job grade levels)
  • Experience working in a FASE/life skills or comparable special education environment strongly preferred
  • In-depth understanding of differentiated instructional strategies and behavior management
  • Solid collaboration skills for working with other educators, related service providers, and families
  • Ability to adapt quickly and thrive in a dynamic classroom setting

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized, evidence-based instruction and implement IEPs for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities
  • Support students’ academic and functional independence using creative teaching methods
  • Collaborate with support staff and related services to meet each student’s needs
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of student progress, attendance, and communications
  • Facilitate a positive, structured environment, applying best practices in classroom management
  • Engage in ongoing communication with families, fostering transparency and trust

This is an onsite contract assignment, running through December 18, with a 37.5 hour weekly schedule supporting one classroom. If you have a passion for making a difference and hold the required SPED certification and qualifying endorsement, your skills are needed in this rewarding role.
