Special Education Teacher in Yelm, WA

Make a meaningful impact as a Special Education Teacher supporting middle school students during the 2026-2027 academic year! This contract position spans from September 9, 2026, through June 16, 2027, and offers a full-time schedule of 7.5 hours per day (with a .5-hour unpaid lunch). You’ll be part of a dedicated team of three, serving grades 6, 7, and 8 in a Learning Resource Center (LRC) setting with a caseload of approximately 40 students. All work is performed onsite, fostering rich daily interactions with students and colleagues alike.

What you’ll bring:

• Valid Special Education Teaching License or Certification in Washington, or the willingness to obtain one prior to your start date
• Ability to be fingerprinted through OSPI, or willing to complete this process as required
• Prior special education teaching experience at the middle school level preferred
• Strong skills in collaboration and communication to coordinate with two fellow LRC teachers
• Compassion, adaptability, and commitment to supporting students with diverse learning needs

Key responsibilities:

• Deliver specially designed instruction and supports for students in the Learning Resource Center (LRC)
• Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Collaborate with general education staff, families, and school support teams to advance student success
• Monitor progress, maintain documentation, and adjust interventions based on student needs
• Foster an inclusive, supportive classroom culture that encourages student growth and independence
