Key qualifications and skills:
- Valid state licensure as a Special Education Teacher
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Special Education or a related field
- Proven classroom experience working with children who have learning or developmental disabilities
- Solid understanding of IEP development and implementation
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities with staff, parents, and support teams
- Proficiency in adapting curriculum and utilizing differentiated instruction techniques
- Compassionate, patient, and creative approach to student engagement
Primary responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and group instruction based on IEPs, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations
- Assess student progress and adjust teaching techniques to address unique needs
- Consult and collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, and support staff
- Communicate regularly with families regarding student development and educational goals
- Maintain accurate records, including progress reports and documentation required for IEP meetings
- Foster a supportive, positive classroom environment to inspire confidence and academic growth
