Special Education Teacher in Ypsilanti, MI

Make a positive impact supporting young learners as a Special Education Teacher in a highly collaborative and well-resourced elementary K-1 ACT 18 ASD classroom. This contract position, based near Ypsilanti, MI, offers the opportunity to work closely with a team of talented professionals while providing tailored instruction and care to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Bring your enthusiasm for teaching, knowledge of innovative strategies, and dedication to student growth as you lead a small classroom (7-8 students maximum), supported by three experienced paraprofessionals and a comprehensive student support team, including a speech therapist, social worker, occupational therapist, and ASD coach. Desired Qualifications:

• Valid Michigan teaching certificate with elementary endorsement
• ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) certification, or equivalent experience supporting students with ASD
• Experience with early elementary-aged children preferred
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team
• Proactive, flexible, and committed to inclusive practices and differentiated instruction

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide individualized and group instruction aligned with student IEPs
• Implement the newly adopted curriculum while utilizing research-based strategies for ASD support
• Collaborate with paraprofessionals and support staff to create a structured, positive learning environment
• Monitor student progress, adjust teaching methods, and document data
• Foster positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues
