Embark on a meaningful contract opportunity making a difference in students’ lives as a Special Education Teacher supporting K-5 learners in a self-contained setting. This position, conveniently located near Zion, IL and serving neighboring communities, offers the chance to work with a dedicated caseload of 8-12 students, delivering impactful instruction tailored to diverse learning needs.

This full-time assignment runs approximately 35 hours per week, beginning in mid-August 2026 and extending through the end of May 2027. You’ll play a key role in creating a supportive and inclusive classroom environment, collaborating closely with colleagues, and ensuring each child receives a personalized educational experience. New staff training information will be provided prior to your start date.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid Special Education Teacher certification (state requirements must be met)
  • Experience working with K-5 students in a self-contained or similar special education environment
  • Ability to develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with families, administrators, and related service providers
  • Compassion, patience, and commitment to fostering a positive learning atmosphere

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Teach and support a caseload of 8-12 elementary students, adapting lessons to meet individual needs
  • Maintain accurate records and progress monitoring for student goals and objectives
  • Employ evidence-based instructional strategies and behavioral interventions
  • Foster a classroom where every student is encouraged and celebrated for their achievements
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure student success
