Key Qualifications:

  • Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing or eligibility to obtain
  • Previous experience supporting students with auditory impairments in a school setting
  • Solid understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs) and knowledge of assistive listening devices
  • Excellent communication skills for collaboration with students, families, and educational teams
  • Ability to adapt instructional strategies to meet varied student needs
  • Passion for advocacy and equipping students with skills for lifelong success

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver specialized instruction for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, speech-language pathologists, and other professionals to support student progress
  • Assess students’ needs and maintain accurate records for documentation and reporting
  • Implement and monitor IEP goals and modifications
  • Provide guidance on amplifying student access to curriculum and social settings
  • Serve as a resource for staff development on hearing loss and strategies for accessibility
