Key Qualifications:

  • Valid teaching certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing or Hearing Impaired students
  • Previous experience working with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, preferably within school settings
  • Strong communication skills, both spoken and sign language (ASL, SEE, or similar proficiency highly valued)
  • Ability to develop and adapt lesson plans to meet students’ individual needs
  • Passion for fostering an inclusive, supportive learning environment

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, adapting curriculum and materials as necessary
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, interpreters, and other educational staff to ensure accessibility
  • Conduct assessments to monitor and document student progress, adjusting strategies accordingly
  • Facilitate communication between students, families, and school staff, serving as an advocate for student needs
  • Implement and support the use of assistive technologies and accommodations in the classroom
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development of individualized education plans
