Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (TDHH) | Augusta, Maine

Step into a rewarding contract position supporting students as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing in the Augusta, ME region. Qualifications and Preferred Experience:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education or a related field
• Appropriate state teaching certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing
• Experience in school settings highly valued
• Strong understanding of audiology equipment and assistive technology
• Proficiency with American Sign Language (ASL) preferred
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction, modifications, and consultation services to students who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing
• Assess individual student needs and track progress
• Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and families to create and maintain an inclusive environment
• Advocate for student access to curriculum, extracurricular activities, and academic success
• Facilitate communication using multiple modalities, including ASL and oral communication as appropriate
• Attend and participate in IEP meetings; assist with goal setting and progress reporting
