Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (TDHH) - Augusta, Maine

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education or related field
• Valid teaching certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing, or eligibility for certification
• Experience in developing and adapting curriculum for students with hearing impairments
• Familiarity with assistive listening devices and technology supports
• Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication modalities
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, families, and staff
• Prior school-based experience is a plus

Your Responsibilities:

• Deliver engaging instruction tailored for students from various backgrounds and ability levels
• Adapt classroom materials and strategies to meet individual needs under IEP guidelines
• Implement and assess communication and auditory development plans
• Support students in both academic and social growth, promoting inclusion
• Consult and collaborate with classroom teachers, staff, and families to optimize each student’s learning environment
• Track and report on student progress, maintaining compliance with district and state standards
• Participate in IEP meetings and professional development opportunities
