What you’ll need to succeed:

• Current certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (or eligibility to obtain)
• Experience working with children with hearing loss in school settings preferred
• Strong knowledge of various communication modalities, including sign language, oral/aural methods, and assistive technology
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
• Commitment to individualized instruction and student success
• Ability to create engaging, accessible lesson plans and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams

Day-to-day responsibilities include:

• Delivering tailored instruction and academic support to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing across a variety of age groups
• Collaborating with classroom teachers and special education staff to implement effective accommodations and modifications
• Conducting assessments to monitor student progress, adjusting instructional strategies as needed
• Keeping thorough documentation of student progress and IEP goals
• Supporting students in developing communication, self-advocacy, and social skills
• Facilitating parent-teacher communication and attending IEP meetings
