Step into a rewarding opportunity as a Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher/Hearing Itinerant supporting students across K-12 for the upcoming school year. This contract position offers a full-time schedule of 37.5 hours per week and the chance to provide invaluable services to students with hearing needs.
In this role, you'll be responsible for managing a caseload of students who require Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) support, delivering specialized instruction according to each student's documented minutes per week. As the dedicated DHH teacher, you’ll travel between schools within the area to ensure that students receive tailored educational assistance, accommodations, and advocacy.
To thrive in this position, you should possess the following:
Required Qualifications:
- Professional Educator License (PEL) issued by the Illinois State Board of Education with a Teacher of Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) endorsement
- Experience or training working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Familiarity with itinerant teaching models and supporting diverse learners across multiple grade levels
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with school teams, families, and service providers
- Ability to adapt instruction for a range of student needs, including the use of technology and assistive devices
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver itinerant services for K-12 students on your assigned caseload
- Implement IEP goals and track student progress
- Consult and collaborate with general education teachers, related service teams, and family members
- Provide support in developing communication strategies and self-advocacy skills
- Maintain up-to-date documentation as required by district and state guidelines
