Make a meaningful impact supporting students as a dedicated educator for the Deaf/Hard of Hearing! This full-time, itinerant contract role offers the opportunity to serve across both a middle school and two elementary schools, bringing specialized expertise to varied grade levels and collaborative teams. The assignment runs from August 2026 through May 2027, providing continuity and the chance to build lasting relationships within the school community.
Qualifications & Experience Desired:
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) endorsement is required
- Demonstrated experience teaching students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in school-based settings
- Strong communication skills and flexibility in working with diverse age groups and classrooms
- Commitment to fostering inclusive learning environments and collaborating with general education staff
- Previous itinerant teaching experience is highly valued but not required
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction and support services to DHH students across assigned middle and elementary schools
- Develop, implement, and adapt Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to address each student’s unique needs
- Collaborate regularly with general education teachers, families, and support staff to ensure student success
- Advocate for accessibility and equity within educational activities and school environments
- Maintain detailed records, progress notes, and required documentation for compliance and team meetings
