Key Qualifications:
- Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Demonstrated experience teaching or working with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Strong knowledge of auditory/oral, total communication, and/or sign language approaches
- Ability to effectively collaborate with educators, support staff, and families
- Excellent communication, organizational, and documentation skills
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment
- Flexibility and responsiveness to individual student needs
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, shaping lessons to accommodate various learning and communication styles
- Conduct assessments and monitor student progress, adapting teaching strategies as needed
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Provide consultation and support to classroom teachers and staff, promoting accessibility and success for students
- Serve as an advocate, modeling and promoting inclusive practices within the school community
- Engage with families, sharing updates and resources to support student achievement at home and in the classroom
