Key Qualifications:
- Valid certification or licensure as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Teacher.
- Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, preferably in a K-12 setting.
- Strong understanding of current educational strategies, assistive technologies, and accommodations for students with hearing impairments.
- Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) and/or other communication modalities utilized by students.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for collaboration with students, families, and educational teams.
- Ability to adapt instruction to diverse learning needs and environments.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student’s unique needs.
- Provide direct instructional support, both individually and in small groups, using a range of communication and instructional approaches.
- Consult with general education teachers and staff to ensure classroom integration and accessibility.
- Assess student progress, maintain documentation, and communicate findings effectively with stakeholders.
- Serve as an advocate for students, fostering confidence, independence, and full participation in school life.
