Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing - Bessemer, AL

What We’re Looking For:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution
• Valid Alabama Teacher’s Certificate
• Willingness to meet Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) federal and state requirements (or fulfill within the designated timeframe)
• Maintains (or is willing to obtain) all required licensure for Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) instruction in Alabama
• Prior experience supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing is highly valued
• Strong collaboration and communication skills to work closely with educational teams, students, and families

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and adapt lesson plans and instructional materials to meet the unique needs of students with hearing impairments
• Implement and evaluate Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Provide direct and consultative services to students, teachers, and parents
• Advocate for accommodations and modifications that ensure student success across all educational settings
• Utilize assessment data to track progress and inform instruction
• Contribute actively to multidisciplinary teams within the school community
