This is a contract opportunity for an experienced Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing ready to partner with students and staff to promote accessible learning. Located near Biloxi, MS, this rewarding role provides the chance to create inclusive classroom experiences, adapt curriculum to student needs, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid teaching certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) or eligibility to obtain
- Experience working with students with varying levels of hearing loss, across multiple grades
- Knowledge of assistive technology, such as FM systems or hearing aids
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL), or equivalent communication skills, strongly preferred
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills for partnering with general educators, families, and service providers
- Genuine passion for advocacy, accessibility, and differentiation
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instruction to meet individualized educational goals for deaf and hard of hearing students
- Modify curriculum materials and teaching strategies to accommodate diverse learning needs
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and school staff to support inclusion and student participation
- Monitor, track, and document student progress; contribute to IEP meetings and goal-setting
- Consult with families, audiologists, and support services as needed
- Promote self-advocacy and independence among students
