Qualifications & Desired Background:

• Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (TDHH), or eligibility to obtain New York state credentials
• Strong background in deaf education best practices and differentiated instruction
• Experience developing and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
• Exceptional communication skills with students, families, and interdisciplinary teams
• Dedication to promoting an inclusive and accessible learning environment
• Experience with a diverse range of communication modalities, including American Sign Language preferred

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction tailored to the needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing
• Develop, monitor, and revise IEP goals in partnership with families and colleagues
• Support classroom teachers with strategies for inclusion and accessibility
• Foster students’ self-advocacy and communication skills within the school community
• Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with local and state guidelines
• Build strong, collaborative relationships with families and support staff
