Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university
  • Possession of a valid Alabama Teacher’s Certificate
  • Meets Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) federal and state requirements, or willingness to fulfill them within the designated timeframe
  • Holds or is eligible to obtain the required DHH (Deaf/Hard of Hearing) licensure for Alabama
  • Background in providing instruction, support, and accommodations for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an inclusive and collaborative approach
  • Ability to develop individualized lesson plans and work closely with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct instruction and specialized support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Adapt curriculum and classroom environments to foster student engagement, inclusivity, and success
  • Collaborate with general educators, administrators, and other service providers to promote seamless learning experiences
  • Advocate for the needs of hearing-impaired students within the school and community
  • Implement evidence-based teaching strategies and assistive technologies
  • Maintain accurate records and track student progress towards individualized educational goals
