This contract role is situated just 20 minutes northeast of Columbia, SC, and focuses on delivering specialized instruction and advocacy for students with hearing differences within school settings.

Key Qualifications:

  • Current certification in teaching Deaf/Hard of Hearing students.
  • Strong knowledge of instructional techniques for DHH learners.
  • Ability to collaborate with educators, families, and related service providers.
  • Proficiency with assistive listening devices and adaptive technology.
  • Effective communication skills, including ability to use sign language (preferred).
  • Experience in IEP development and progress monitoring for DHH students.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized and small group instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in various educational environments.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to implement appropriate accommodations and modifications.
  • Participate in IEP meetings, contributing expertise to support student success.
  • Consult with families to encourage active involvement in their child’s educational journey.
  • Monitor, assess, and document student growth, adjusting strategies as needed.
  • Promote self-advocacy and independence among students with hearing differences.
  • Assist in training staff on best practices regarding Deaf/Hard of Hearing students.
