Key Qualifications:

  • Valid teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education (state-specific credentials required)
  • Previous classroom experience working with Deaf/Hard of Hearing students preferred
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication modalities
  • Strong collaboration skills to work alongside educators, support staff, and families
  • Ability to develop and adapt lesson plans for individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Compassionate, patient, and committed to student growth and confidence

Core Responsibilities:

  • Deliver targeted instruction based on students’ unique learning profiles, using appropriate accommodations and assistive technology
  • Foster an inclusive classroom culture that encourages participation and celebrates diversity
  • Assess and monitor student progress, adjusting teaching strategies as needed to meet IEP goals
  • Collaborate with speech-language pathologists, audiologists, classroom teachers, and administrators to ensure cohesive support
  • Provide resources and guidance to families, helping them advocate for their children’s educational needs
  • Participate in IEP meetings, professional development sessions, and school events relevant to Deaf/Hard of Hearing education
