Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid state teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing or eligibility to obtain
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing or related field
- Strong ASL proficiency and/or experience with auditory/oral approaches
- Previous experience working in K-12 settings preferred
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to develop and implement IEPs specific to hearing needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, using appropriate communication modes
- Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and families to provide accessible curriculum
- Conduct assessments and monitor student progress to inform instruction and goals
- Support students' social, emotional, and academic development
- Serve as a resource for staff and families regarding hearing loss, assistive technology, and inclusion strategies
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute expertise to multidisciplinary teams
