This contract opportunity allows you to work closely with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, ensuring they receive individualized instruction and supports for success in the classroom and beyond.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education or related field
- Valid teaching certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing (or ability to obtain)
- Experience working with students who are deaf, hard of hearing, or have auditory impairments, preferably in a school setting
- Strong knowledge of instructional strategies and assistive technologies for students with hearing loss
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) is preferred
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to partner with students, staff, and families
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with hearing loss
- Provide direct instruction tailored to students' unique learning styles in mainstream or self-contained classroom settings
- Collaborate with general education teachers, speech-language pathologists, and related service providers
- Support students in accessing the curriculum and participating fully in school activities
- Consult with families to support learning goals and facilitate communication at home
- Monitor and document student progress, adjusting instructional strategies as needed
