Teacher of the Deaf in Brandon, MS

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education or related field
• Valid teaching certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing (or ability to obtain)
• Experience working with students who are deaf, hard of hearing, or have auditory impairments, preferably in a school setting
• Strong knowledge of instructional strategies and assistive technologies for students with hearing loss
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) is preferred
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to partner with students, staff, and families

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with hearing loss
• Provide direct instruction tailored to students' unique learning styles in mainstream or self-contained classroom settings
• Collaborate with general education teachers, speech-language pathologists, and related service providers
• Support students in accessing the curriculum and participating fully in school activities
• Consult with families to support learning goals and facilitate communication at home
• Monitor and document student progress, adjusting instructional strategies as needed
