Key qualifications and desired experience:

  • Valid teaching certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students.
  • Proven experience as a Teacher for the Deaf/Hard of Hearing, preferably in a school environment.
  • Strong knowledge of assistive technology, American Sign Language (ASL), and differentiated instructional strategies.
  • Ability to collaborate with general education teachers, parents, and related service providers.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and adaptability skills.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct instruction and adapt curriculum for students with varying levels of hearing abilities.
  • Provide ongoing assessment, progress monitoring, and documentation for each student’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
  • Implement strategies and accommodations to support language development, accessibility, and full participation in the school community.
  • Serve as a resource to staff and families, offering insights and training on best practices for supporting Deaf/Hard of Hearing learners.
  • Create a safe, respectful, and enriched classroom environment that celebrates diversity and student achievement.
