Qualifications and Preferred Experience:

  • Valid teaching certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing (state credential or eligibility preferred)
  • Previous experience teaching students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in a school setting
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other relevant communication modes
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, staff, and families
  • Ability to create Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals tailored to each student’s unique needs
  • Comfortable adapting curriculum, materials, and teaching strategies to varied learning styles

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction and support to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
  • Develop instructional plans based on each student’s strengths and areas of need
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to facilitate inclusive classroom experiences
  • Conduct assessments and participate in IEP meetings
  • Foster a supportive, communicative classroom environment promoting self-advocacy and independence
  • Engage families with regular updates on student progress and strategies for home support
