Qualifications and Experience Desired:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (or eligibility for certification)
- Proven experience working with school-aged children who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Deep understanding of IEP processes and ability to contribute to individualized education plans
- Familiarity with assistive listening technology, ASL, and/or other communication modalities
- Patient, positive, and adaptable with strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative instructional support to students with hearing loss in a variety of educational settings
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, therapists, and families to develop strategies that meet students’ academic, language, and social needs
- Adapt curriculum and materials for accessibility, ensuring students’ full participation in classroom activities
- Track student progress, contribute to IEP meetings, and maintain clear documentation
- Advocate for accessibility and provide training or resources to colleagues as needed
