Qualifications/Desired Experience:

  • Valid teaching certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing education (state-specific credentials required)
  • Proficiency in sign language and alternative communication methods
  • Experience developing and implementing IEPs for students who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to adapt strategies for diverse student needs and learning styles
  • Previous experience working with children or adolescents in a school setting preferred

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction, support, and advocacy for students who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing
  • Develop individualized lesson plans and assist in creating accessible classroom materials
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, and support staff to ensure inclusive participation
  • Engage with parents/guardians through regular communication and progress updates
  • Monitor student progress, conduct assessments, and make data-driven recommendations for supports or modifications
  • Attend IEP meetings and professional development as required
