Desired Qualifications:
- Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
- Degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field
- Experience working with children who are deaf or hard of hearing (K-12 preferred)
- Strong understanding of hearing assistive technology and alternative communication methods, including American Sign Language (ASL)
- Ability to create and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students with hearing loss both individually and in group settings
- Adapt curriculum to ensure accessibility and equity
- Foster an inclusive classroom environment that values communication diversity
- Consult with general education teachers, families, and related service providers to maximize student participation
- Assess student progress and make data-driven adjustments to teaching strategies
- Support students in developing self-advocacy and social skills
