Teacher of the Deaf in Burnsville, MN

Step into a role that empowers students and fosters communication as an ASL Interpreter supporting K-12 learners. This contract opportunity is based on-site, offering the chance to collaborate with educators and facilitate meaningful access for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students within an engaging school environment. With a schedule of 35 hours per week from now through the end of May 2027, you’ll play a vital part in daily classroom life and school activities.

Desired Skills & Qualifications:

• Certification through the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID), such as RID-NIC or NAD IV/V
• OR a score of 4.0 or higher on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) plus a passing score on the EIPA written exam
• Proficiency in interpreting American Sign Language in educational settings
• Experience supporting K-12 students as an interpreter, teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing, or comparable role
• Ability to work confidently on-site within a school team—remote work is not available for this position

Key Responsibilities:

• Interpret spoken English into American Sign Language—and vice versa—across a variety of classroom subjects and settings
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, and school leadership to meet individual student needs
• Support Deaf and Hard of Hearing students participating in both academic and extracurricular activities
• Help foster an inclusive environment that encourages communication and learning for all students
• Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical interpreting practices at all times
