Qualifications/Experience Sought:
- Valid teaching credential/license with an endorsement in Deaf/Hard of Hearing Education (or eligibility to obtain)
- Previous experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, ideally within schools
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication modalities relevant to DHH students
- Strong interpersonal communication abilities and collaborative skills
- Capability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Commitment to fostering inclusion and advocating for student needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative services to DHH students across grade levels
- Tailor lessons and materials to students’ individual needs and communication preferences
- Collaborate with general and special education staff to support inclusion
- Conduct assessments and participate in IEP meetings
- Engage and inform families about student progress and available strategies
- Serve as a resource for staff regarding best practices for DHH students
- Maintain accurate records and documentation as required
